Orang Asia Genius

6 years ago, back in January 2006 I first heard about this company, an oilfield service giant, the biggest service provider in the world. I was so amazed with this company, I admire and respect people work with this bloody company.

Fast forward, now we are at the 4th quarter of 2012, I still cannot believe that finally I am 'a person I used to admire'. Sometimes life is unpredictable. Not some times, but always. To be honest, I still think this is too good for a nobody like me, who barely passed his degree, who always struggle with a thread on the neck to hold me from falling.

This is only my 4th week with this company. Life has been quite an adventure for me since the last 10 months. Nothing routine, always something new. For a month and a half I was unemployed. Well, actually I was hired in January, in less than 1 month after I took my very last university exam.

But I couldn't work straight away just because a stupid background check. You why? The company hired a 3rd party company to do background check, that 3rd party called a company where I did my internship and that company couldn't find my record as a prove that I did internship with them. Once they told me about this, I gave my internship offer letter, settled, I started working. It costed me a month and a half because of this stupid problem. For God's sake, it just a fucking internship.

This is my 3rd company in 8 months time. I am so lucky to be blessed with good jobs. To be honest, not all have such wonderful 8 working months. I was earning way above average for fresh grads in Malaysia. Alhamdulillah, I believe this is a gift after all the hardship I had been thru during my 5 years and a half in France. I also believe this is a test from Him.

In my 4th week, I am still waiting for the news from Training manager to know where I will be going for training, either Abu Dhabi, Houston or in a Russian city. I wanna go to Houston so bad because I just love the US. But it is going to be the thougest school. But Abu Dhabi won't be that bad, I will be able to eat lamb everyday, hahaha.

I am also still waiting for my 1st trip to an offshore rig. Anytime soon. Now I can't wait, but I believe after 5 months time, I will be going there very often. After all, thats where a Field Engineer work, not in the base, but at the rig.

Going offshore means either to a rig, a platform or on an installation vessel, to name a few. Rig and platform are not the same. I used to think that they are the same, only last year or this year I realized the difference. Excusable maybe, for a Mechanical Engineering graduate like me, further more from a university in France where people never ever talk about oil & gas industry.

I really need to find a time to write, because I have extremely a lot of things that I wanna share.

Till then..
