Nurkilan di kala tengah malam seorang diri

Here I am, finally I step my feet on this steel island right in the middle of the sea. I already forget, since when I have been dreaming to work in this business. Maybe since 2009 or even earlier? Could it be later?


Today is my 9th day not touching the soil, 9th day living without handphone, luckily I memorize my parents and girlfriend' phone number. Sometimes, I could be a very simple guy. I think most of the time, I am a simple, not so ordinary guy when it comes to communication. I am not the type of guy who sms a lot. I used to be such type of guy before I turned 18 or 19.


Life here is not that bad. Well, cannot say much as this is still something new for me. But when it comes to food, this is a very food friendly place. Yes, these guys have been telling me the right thing, food away from the shore is awesome. Every meal time, good food served. I easily gained about 4kg after being here for 1 week.


Now I started to control myself after realizing that I look like a fat pig, eat less, for myself to run on the threadmill for 30 minutes after working for 14-16 hours. For now my shift is 6pm-6am. I still can sleep safe and sound like a baby during daytime.


My biggest headache so far is the training I will be attending most probably this January or February for 9 weeks. It is tough, first I need to undergo the entrance exam. They are going to ask questions based on the whole bloody book. That is damn hard, seriously.


The venue of the training is either Tyumen in Russia, Abu Dhabi or Houston. Most probably I will be going to Abu Dhabi as I am based in Malaysia. But there is still slight hope of going to my preferred place, Houston. But it is going to be hard as they say instructor there is more strict compared to those in Abu Dhabi.


Pass the entrance exam, and the next exams in that school, then only the sky is the limit..


For this offshore trip, at 1st when I was informed that I am going offshore, they told me that I will be going only for 1 week. Then when I first stepped my feet on this rig, my colleague told me that I need to stay for 2 weeks as there is nobody available to work. And yesterday, latest news, I need to do the full swing, 28 days. I don't care, I need to learn a lot. The longer the better.
