Living in France since the last 3 years, about to enter my 4th year in France this coming Sept 26. Quite hard to believe that I've been here since quite a long time, almost half the journey done, Alhamdulillah. Remembering the day where I got the JPA offer letter, it creates a smile on my face.
I applied this French programme without knowing the fact that the preparation programme in Malaysia is only for 3 months and I need to be in France for the next seven years of my life. I thought this programme is just like other 'normal' degree programme with about 1 to 2 years preparation programme in Malaysia and 3-4 years of degree course abroad.
So you can imagine what a shocking news it was for me when I got that offer.
7 years of study is just too long for a non-hardworking person like me. But Alhamdulillah, these 7 years insya Allah won't be waste as the degree obtained will be at the same level of master's degree or higher. It is quite complicated to explain now, one day maybe I'll do if I feel like I want to.
Despite being here since 2006, or already for 3 years running, I am only in 2nd year in my associate degree or diploma level equivalent course. Well for your information, before doing this course, I had a 2-year preparation programme.
And it is my final year in this course as this DUT only takes 2 years. I'll be free after June, but only for a short while. Need to start thinking of where the hell on France I will be continuing my studies for the next 3 years, and what course to choose.
Weather to continue directly for 3 years in école d'ingénieur (engineering school) or to further my studies in bachelor's degree programme for another year followed by doing master's degree for another 2 years. The 1st choice remains my favorite one, at least at the moment.
That is why I would like to say that this French Programme is not that bad after all, because after 5 years of studies, I'll reach the bachelor's degree level just like most of my friends, excluding the UTP Jan'06 students of course. Still, I'm only a semester behind them.
Well in Europe, a bachelor's degree in engineering is only a 3-year course. See Bologna process for the standardization of degree programmes in Europe.
Sometimes, I'm glad to be a paid student at this moment, where almost everywhere, everybody talk about the so called global financial crisis. As a direct effect, job is so hard to be found. Alhamdulillah I'm still a paid student at such a crucial period. Hopefully everything will be over by the time I complete my studies.
By the way, please forgive me for writing another meaningless entry, got lost in the middle of the day.
And I do wonder if I have a friend who is in Singapore at the moment. This blog happens to have a visitor from Singapore, quite reularly.
