Rant. Stupid organization of my university.

Seriously, I think my university and others who happen to do the same as mine need to learn a few things.

I am doing revision this weekend, preparing for 4 papers to be answered for my final examination next week.

Monday : Mechanical design/Material

Tuesday : Signal Processing/Sensor

Wednesday : Control Systems

Thursday : Continuum Mechanics

You see, one paper a day. These are all core papers, same credit, no joking paper like English or Management. And no study week.

The week just before this final exam, I had like 4 lab sessions, each is a 4-hour session. For each session we need to prepare reports, and the week after is the final exam week. 4 lab sessions is for me, I am lucky because as I don't have to re do all subjects because I am retaking failed subjects

But for the others who take all, can you imagine how hectic their schedule is? This happens not only at my department, but most of other universities in France. They are crazy, with an overwhelming level of workload when it comes to studying. But they work only 35 hours/week.

Not only I don't have a study week, but I have papers everyday during the final exam week. I am so tired of these. At least put some gaps if you don't want to give us a study week. Or let us take some of the papers the week after Christmas break. That is still quite cruel forcing us to revise even during holiday, during festive season.

I am far from a smart student. This sem is only evaluated based on performance of these 4 subjects, no project to help the students.

Marking for each subjects :

1/4 from lab report

1/4 from a test

1/2 from the final exam.

My Prof is so helpful when it comes about tips. I asked him, any special attention for a certain chapter? I got a very helpful answer : you must revise all what we covered during the whole sem.

Oh I forgot to add that if some of you ask me why didn't I retake these paper last semester? It was because these papers can only be taken during Sept-Jan semester. So even though I knew that I failed them last January, I couldn't retake them during the following semester, so I just proceeded to the following semester even though I failed the 1st one. And luckily I passed the second.

Bullshit isn't it? The second semester(the final semester of my degree) was a quite relaxing semester. The internship I did was a summer one, so it wasn't a whole semester internship, and the marks wasn't that big.

Final sem (last sem)

UE 1 : Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering

UE 2 : Material Sciences, Solid Mechanics

UE 3 : Automation, Robotics

UE 4 : English, Management, Internship

UE 5 : Project

Each UE has the same coefficient, so the internship was just like 'sebutir pasir di lautan'. I'd love to re take at least 2 papers during that sem, but this is La France, where a subject is only offered during a semester, not both.

I am not encouraging you to study here, but here it is only destined to the gifted students, not cap ayam like me.........
